Today we decided to review one of the biggest players on the market in terms of juicing, the j8006 omega juicer and its previous counter parts the j8004 and j8005. These juicers have taken a big role in the market of juicing and are the most purchased juicer in its class. These juicers are classed as masticating juice extractors and are a lot different from a manual orange juice press. These are more so done to make different kinds of juice while a manual press or citrus juicer focus more so on citrus juice.
Who Should buy a Masticating Juice Extractor
A masticating juicer is perfect for anyone who is looking to juice on a large scale and is looking to juice a variety of fruits and vegetables. This is not to be confused with the likes of a commercial orange juicer which is totally in a different class. Yes juicers are a bit expensive and take up a ton of space but they are for juice fanatics who are looking to make boutique juice at home. In most places your looking at spending almost $14 dollars on a fresh bottle of organic juice, while using your own juicer can cut that cost down to practically a quarter of that cost. Also drinking fresh juice on the daily can not only save you money but also save your health by giving you less visits to the doctor!
While it is important to eat solid food you still need to drink fresh fruit juice in order to keep a healthy balance. This allows your body to get enough nutrients to maintain a healthy balance for blood flow, hair growth, sleep, and weight loss. These are all achieved by drinking fresh juice, these benefits might not be achieved with drinking regular juice from the store. Most of the time if you get juice from the store the juice is void of nutrients because of all the additives and processing that is done. Many people don’t know this but this is what happens if you drink store bought juice.
The thing is whether you eat whole fruits and vegetables or not you will still get the same nutrients as with juicing. However juicing is a much more funner option as it is easier to down 3 glasses of fresh juice a day, than constantly be eating fruits and vegetables. This applies to both citrus juicers and masticating juicers which make it easier for you to get your nutrients in. More so green juice is a more nutrient dense than any other juice which is primarily filled with sugars and things that may not benefit your body.
Doctors from WebMD point out that juicing and eating whole fruits and vegetables is really no different at all when it comes to health benefits and nutrients. However like we said earlier juicing just makes the whole process a hundred times easier for someone who genuinely is alot busier.
We understand that good organic vegetables and fruits can be pricey however this is where it is important that you the juicer find a good juicer that will squeeze the most out of your produce to provide the maximum amount of juice without losing out on nutrients and juice. If that is achieved you will be saving in the long run on both juice and purchasing fresh produce. If you have a model that only caters towards soft and mushy fruits, than you might want to upgrade to a juicer that will squeeze both soft fruits and tough greens.
One of the reasons why we specifically decided to do a review of the omega juicer j8006 also known as the omega 8006 nutrition center and its siblings the omega j8004, and omega j8005 is because these juicers have been on the market for quite some time and are known for their reliability in juicing all sorts of fruits and vegetables. They have a proven track record to durability and effectiveness in juicing.
How to pick a juicer
When it comes to picking the right juicer for yourself you are going to want to know what kind of juice you want first. Do you want fresh citrus juice? Then you might want to look into getting an electric orange juicer. Do you want to have fresh pressed pomegranate or grapefruit juice? Then you might want to look into getting a pomegranate juice press. However if you are looking to squeeze or juice greens and hard roots equally well you will want to invest into a proper masticating juicer such as the omega 8006 nutrition center. This can be further backed up by John Kohler a juicing expert for the past 25 years who has clarified that the best way to pick a juicer is to look at the end result, what kind of juice do you really want.
In this review we are focusing on green juice which is more nutrient dense than only juicing fruits. If your whole purpose of juicing is simply to free sugar filled fruits than you will be missing out on a plethora of nutrients until you factor in leafy green vegetables. The nutrients found in leafy greens like kale which does not have copious amounts of sugar get into your bloodsteam fast and effectively.
Lisa Graham from the juicing convention held in Vegas was very clear when she said:
“Fresh is better than bottled because the latter is pasteurized to make it shelf-stable, which some say degrades the nutrients.”
This means that if you start juicing it is better for you to actually cool your fruits and vegetables before hand before putting them into the juicer in order to get fresh cold pressed juice right away. This helps retain the nutrients because enzyme deactivation starts to occur when the temperature starts to increase. However you don’t have to worry much as most commonly nutrient degradation will start to happen when the room temperature is above 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Also from most juicing enthusiasts they say that more oxidation means less enzymes. After juicing you can tell if there is a lot of oxidation from looking at the foam that develops on top of your juice. More foam pretty much means more oxidation.
In essence some nutrients are more vulnerable to oxidation than others but this is something you should not be too concerned about. There are studies out there that go more into the detail of enzymes and oxidation however we are here to guide you towards the right masticating juicer that will help you with squeezing fresh juice.
First in Line: Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer Review
The J8006 omega juicer is a masticating style juicer that is commonly referred to as a low speed juicer which processes juice at an rpm of 80 while most other juicers have a speed of about 1,650 rpm. In many cases the low rpm and low speed is actually better as it protects and maintains the nutrients and enzymes from the fruits and vegetables while a higher rpm will not be able to preserve the nutrients as effectively. This also allows you to store the the juice for up to 72 hours after juicing and maintain all the given nutrients while a faster rpm juicer does not allow for that. This includes a dual stage juice processing system which pretty much extracts the maximum level of juice from your produce which in return will save you your hard earned cash in the long run. Again this machine is not like orange juicer machine and is more so for handling leafy greens and other produce to make fresh nutrient dense green juice. When we personally tried out the omega nutrition center we were absolutely blown away by how effective it was. It produced the highest amount of green juice from hard vegetables without much effort. There was no jamming or extra foam.
The J8006 omega markets the machines dual stage juicing system which is able to effectively drain fruits and vegetables of all their juice while including the nutrients. This is made possible through the low rpm mentioned above. The well thought out design allows the juicer to squeeze out a large volume of juice. The size of the juicer is 14.5 inches by 6.5 inches by 15.5 inches which is quite large yet this is expected of such a heavy duty juicer.
We also looked at the flavor of the juice produced and overall this was an indication that the omega juicer was doing its job. The high amounts of flavor show that most if not all of the greens and fruits made it into the glass of juice. This is not always the case with other juicers that might actually hold back alot of the fruits and vegetables and will get them stuck into the feeder. The flavor of the juice was fresh as any boutique juice bar and the color of the juice was a bright green hue color.
The slow extraction of the omega juicer is what makes this juicer shine over many other juicers on the market. This allows for the juice which is squeezed to be formed with the most nutrients and without the final juice being overheated. We ran about 1 pound of kale through the omega juicer in about 12 minutes with a starting temperature of 71 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite the machine was running the whole time we found out that the final juice measured in at only 85 degrees!
Cleaning the machine was fairly easy, there’s about 4 parts to rinse and must be hand washed as the parts are not dish washer safe.

Quick Comparison: Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer B6000s
We decided to do a quick comparison of the omega 8006 juicer to the kuvings whole slow juicer to see how the two match up against each other. One thing right of the bat is the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer B6000S is a lot more expensive than the j8006 omega juicer and a bit more heavier. However in performance we would have to say this centrifuge juicer definitely is a high end juicer that puts up a match for the omega series. The motor on the juicer is extremely powerful and is able to crush any produce you put into the juicer, and despite having a powerful motor the operation is very smooth and quite. Yeah your probably wondering why we are comparing a masticating juicer to a centrifuge juicer, well the answer is that both categories are great at juicing green produce. One thing right of the bat is that cleaning and dissambly on the kuvings juicer is a bit more convenient. It is definitely a great juicer to check out if you may be interested in a centrifuge juicer.
Second in Line: Omega J8005 Juicer Review
The omega j8005 juicer is a predecessor to the j8006 omega machine and is also a masticating style juicer which is great at juicing leafy greens and hard vegetables and roots. Additional to that it is great at processing and mixing in nut butters such as peanut butter, almond butters, and other fresh ingredients. The versatality of the machine is really impressive when it comes to the function. Like the j8006 it also has a dual stage juicing system which functions at a low rpm of 80 in order to preserve enzymes and nutrients. Despite the fact that this is an older model than the j8006 it actually is better and stronger when it comes to juicing leafy greens.

Third in Line: Omega J8004 Juicer Review
The omega j8004 juicer is not much different from the j8006 except for in color and price. In fact the way it functions is very similar to the j8006, however this machine is white and less expensive while the j8006 is chrome colored. The thing is both are made out of plastic, so if you can over look the color it really is not a bad idea to go for the omega j8004.
