High end juicers can be cumbersome and expensive since they can juice so much. But if you’re looking to just make orange juice or lemonade, there is really no need to waste your money on a fancy juicer when a citrus juicer will get the job done. Citrus juicers are a great household appliance to have, but there’s way too many on the market to pick through all of them. Instead, do some research and find some of the most popular models. Usually popular ones are popular for a good reason, which is why I’ve tested and reviewed the Cuisinart CCJ-500 Citrus Juicer.
Top Features/ Specs
- Weight: 4 lbs.
- Power: 25 Watts
- Height: 12 inches
- Pulp Control
Get the perfect amount of pulp in every cup of juice, thanks to the three setting¸ pulp control. Whether you want a low, medium, or high amount of pulp, you can fine tune this juicer to get it just right. Other juicers don’t have this feature and usually just filter out all the pulp, but when it comes to citrus juices, it can be kind of nice to have a little bit of pulp.
The stainless steel brushed exterior of this juicer gives it a sleek, polished look that compliments any kitchen. It is also very compact and does not take up much space when you’re using it. Its compact nature and convenient cord storage also make it easy to store when you are not using the juicer. Several parts of this juicer are also designed to conveniently snap off, so you can was them in the dishwasher. The housing itself is not dishwasher safe, but the stainless steel brushed exterior makes it easy to wipe away anything that may get on it.
Snap- Up Spout
This juicer doesn’t have a juice collecting bin, like most other juicers. With large juice collecting bins, you have pour the juice from the bin to your cup, which can be difficult with a very full juice collector. Unlike most juicers though, this one also features a spout, which dispenses the juice directly into any cup or container of your choice. The great part of the spout is that you can simply snap it up when you’re not using it, which prevents leaking and dripping.
Final Spin Feature
To make this juicer as effective as possible, it also has a final spin feature. The final spin feature’s purpose is to go a step further than the juicer normally would, giving it one more spin around and squeezing out every drop of juice. I love this feature because most people just throw out the pulp, and this way you can throw out the pulp without throwing out a bunch of unsqueezed juice as well, making it a better bang for your buck.
I was really excited to try this juicer after reading tons of great reviews, but I was still a little underwhelmed when I got it. At first, I thought it just looked like one of those manual juicers on top of a base, so I assumed I would be doing most of the actual juicing myself. I was very happy to be quickly proven wrong about that. I had a couple oranges laying around, so I cut them in half and decided to give the juicer a go. It was a breeze to use, all I had to do was put the orange on the juice reamer and press down. The juicer goes to work immediately, steadily spinning the reamer, extracting every drop of juice. I was amazed by how much juice it could get from just a couple oranges.
I’ve used it several times since I got it and I have loved making fresh orange juice to go with my breakfast. A regular juicer would be too loud since I wake up an hour before my kids, but this one operates so smoothly and quietly that I’ve been able to make and enjoy my breakfast in peace many mornings. But my favorite thing to make with this juicer is lemonade, it’s the perfect summer drink. And the pulp control makes it super easy to enjoy a glass with lots of pulp and then squeeze more with just a little bit of pulp for my kids to enjoy. And I love knowing exactly what’s in the orange juice or lemonade that we make. It’s a lot healthier than most of the juices at the grocery store, which are packed full of sugar.

Considering the pros far outweigh any cons, this is a juicer I highly recommend. It can’t juice everything, but it isn’t designed to. It’s designed to be really great at juicing citrus fruits, and it is. I don’t think there is anything I would change about this juicer and it’s perfect for virtually anyone. Whether you live alone or with rowdy kids, this juicer can make a positive, healthy change in your life.
It’s also easy enough for anyone to use, so the kids can get involved and help if they want, there are no sharp parts spinning at super high speeds. However, this juicer is especially great for anyone with arthritis or joint pain in the hands. Since it is motorized, there is very little that you have to do, putting minimal pressure and strain on your hands. And best of all, there is virtually no risk in buying since it comes with a 3 year warranty and very affordable to begin with.
