Today we are going to review a grass roots brand in the juicing industry the alessi electric juicer which has been for some time making a big show on the citrus juicing scene. Compared to many of the other electric citrus juicers’ we tested in this price range the alessi juicer was much smaller in size and definitely looked a heck of alot more appealing to the eye!
One of our favorite things to do now before actually review any particular piece of equipment is to see the history behind the company who is responsible for selling the item. Learning the history of the company that designs and ultimately sells these items will tell you alot about how well the juicer was thought out of in its design and how good it will function.
The company Alessi was founded in 1921 as exclusively a workshop for making brass and nickel silver sheet metal. It used these metals to craft all kinds of high-quality products and took pride in the fact that their metal work most of the time stood out from those around them as they had focused in producing the most high-quality sheet metal. Over time the company evolved into a company that focuses on italian design and soon became known for that in the region it was from for designing all kinds of kitchen and house ware with a touch of Italian suave design.
Alessi is known in its area in Italy as a fine crafts factory which not only is responsible for producing pieces of machinery that function well but look amazing. The company has reformed its company statement as a company that is advanced in design, aesthetic looks, and deep in Italian culture. It is quite rare to come across a company that puts out affordable designer products like alessi, and this is one of the primary reason we were so interested in the alessi juicer. It is of no surprise that Alessi is known as the “Dream Factory” as their products not only look so beautiful to the eyes but they tend to be finely crafted to performs at superior levels.
***One of the first things we realized when opening up the unit is that the size was perfectly small and compact. Measuring in at 8.75 inches by 11 inches in diameter the machine is not too big compared to the larger orange juicer machines we usually reviewed. Despite the size of the machine which we actually enjoyed the design of the alessi juicer is just phenomenal. With a sleek stainless steel outer shell and thermoplastic interior it is of no joke how this machine is so finely crafted. Not only does it look great in the kitchen but it won’t clutter your kitchen up considering the small compact size of the machine. The italian design is quite evident from the onset if you were to compare this to cheaper citrus juicers that are of this size and power range. Most other cheaper orange juicers in this same range are made of flimsy plastic while this has solid and fine italian grade stainless steel.
***For the size of the alessi electric juicer you are looking at a heck of alot of power which quite frankly is not found in machinery of this size. Despite having a powerful motor the motor is quite and in a weird way can barely be heard. This makes it great for anyone looking to have a late night juicing session or early morning glass of fresh orange juice without having to wake anybody up. The motor actuates as you press down so that when the actual juicing of the citrus fruit is taking place you don’t have a loud and annoying grinding sound that is so often found in cheaper citrus juicers.
***The filter of the juicer is 5.50 inches in diameter which not only allows you to juice regular to large sized oranges but you are also able to juice grapefruits really easily without any issues or problems.
***When it actually comes to the juicing process, the task is really smooth and easy. You can either press the juice directly on the cone or you can use a lever to push the fruit on the juice and we find in general that either way is a seamless and simple process that extracts large quantities of juice. With a 90 watt motor running at 60 Hertz it is of no surprise that the juicing process on the alesso machine is so simple and easy.
***The base of the juicer is very firm and steady which means that while you are juicing any given citrus fruits you will not have any issues whatsoever of the machine moving around and make problems for you. Some machines are known to move around during the juicing process and alessi is definitely not one of them.
***Cleaning up the machine is a breeze. It is only composed up of 4 detachable parts which you simply have to take out yourself and rinse in water and soap. We definitely know how difficult it is to wash some of the other orange juice machines out there and we know how important it is to have a machine that is easy to wash and look after. With the alessi juicer you should have no issues whatsoever when it comes to cleaning and maintenance. IT is also completely dishwasher safe.
